What is a Class Reunion?
Tuesday, July 1st, 2008
A class reunion is a meeting of former classmates, typically organized at or near their former school by one of the class on or around an anniversary of their graduation. Former teachers may be invited as well. Usually, participants nostalgically reminisce about their old school days, fondly remember their school pranks, and bring each other up to date on what has happened to each of them since they went their separate ways.
In the United States and Canada a prom, short for promenade, is used to describe a formal dance held at the end of an academic year. In the United Kingdom, the term is more widely understood to be in reference to a season of classical concerts or “proms”, which have been held between July and September since 1895, today run by the BBC. The British synonym for the North American event would be Valedictory Ball, Leavers’ Ball, Leavers’ Dinner or informally Leavers’ Do, closer to the Australian description (see below.) In Canada the terms Grad or Formal are most common and the event is usually only held for those in their graduating year of high school or middle school.
There are certain events in your life—graduations, your wedding, first day on the job—that are real milestones in a person’s life. A graduation party celebrates both a job well done and a very bright future. This year, millions of families will get together to celebrate the graduate’s accomplishment and toast his or her future.
Something that takes place; an occurrence.
Events by nature are big! Massive undertakings that require, sometimes hundreds of hours of careful planning and preparation. The task is daunting to say the least. If you try to do it yourself, sure you may succeed in pulling it off, but most likely (by purely lack of experience), you’ll leave those all too important stones unturned. Those little details you just didn’t know were so important!
Confirmation is the sacrament through which the Holy Spirit comes to us in a special way and enables us to profess our faith as strong and perfect Christian and soldiers of Christ.
