High School Musical

For kids birthday party ideas that will win over your little ones, look no further than your TiVo Season Pass Manager. Disney is taking home the cake with the hottest party theme of the year: High School Musical! So how would you design a party around the Disney mega hit movies? Beyond the licensed products, here are some ideas for tying-in games and activities that will have your child and guests breaking into song! What I've Been Lookin' For Who doesn’t love to karaoke? Troy and Gabriella do! If your child is a HSM fan like mine, she will not pass up an opportunity to belt out a verse or two of Start of Something New or Bop to the Top. Make a stage in your living room by hanging up red curtains. Have a trunk full of fun accessories available for the cast: hats, scarves, and boas…. C’mon, all the guests (and probably their parents) will know the lyrics. If not the words, then they will surely recognize the songs… so do some speed rounds of Name That Tune. Get Your Head in the Game Get the hoops out! Don’t have an outdoor hoop or planning a winter party? No sweat. Indoor hoop sets are pretty inexpensive and may be even better for younger kids. Even a wastebasket will do in a pinch. If you’re planning on renting a venue anyway, see if your local community center’s gym is available to go with your theme. If not, try the neighborhood basketball court or rec center. Go to the dollar store for cheerleader poms and inflatable basketballs. Make your birthday banner, pep rally-style with red poster paint and gold glitter and get ready to cheer: What team?! Wildcats! Together If you’re up for some choreography, get the whole gang together for a remake of the final scene. Just like the girls in this video, invite Invite your guests to wear East High colors and be prepared to boogie. If they can master the dance moves, they’ve probably watched the movie enough times to really enjoy another little game called “Who’s Line Is It?” Pretty self-explanatory! Your teen or pre-teen HSM slumber party wouldn’t be complete without a movie screening of course. Add in some fun by having guests walk down the red carpet for a photo-op with the movie’s cast members (yes, life-sized cutouts are available). What Time Is It? If your little Sharpay has moved on to HSM2, there is no shortage of good décor ideas at Lava Springs. Why not feature some baseball, or mini golf, or even better… a pool party! If High School Musical is a hit in your house, make their next party an even bigger one. For more party planning tips, check out my other kids birthday party ideas.
