Wilkes-Barre Factoid:
Manufacturing and retail remained Wilkes-Barre's strongest industries, but the city's economy took a major blow from Tropical Storm Agnes in 1972. The storm pushed the Susquehanna River to a height of nearly 41 feet, four feet above the city's levees, flooding downtown with nine feet of water. Six people were killed, 25,000 homes and businesses were either damaged or destroyed, and damages were estimated to be $1 billion, with President Richard Nixon sending aid to the area.

Tight skirts and non stretch fabric?
-
I want to make a tight egyptian style skirt that clings a little around the hips and bum. I know a lot of these are made up in lycra fabrics but what about non stretch? I have a beautiful silk charmeuse that would look lovely all ruched and clingy...But where do I put the zip? I've been looking up professional costumes online to see if it's possible but the costumes on dahlal rarely specify the fabric, so I'm wondering if it's lycra as standard or whether some higher end costumes are also made from non stretch. How much ease should I draft in if I use it? I don't want it loose and running around and I don't want to restrict my movement too much. Having said that, I like a belt to sit fairly tight on my hips so I would prefer this over a stretch costume that allowed for more movement.Any advice? TIA!xxx

Petal skirt!
-
Red, purple, and gold petal skirt for sale. I think it would look best with harem pants underneath. I'm moving up the ladder in the bellydance world and I'd just rather have my beginner stuff find a better home. Asking about $30-$40 for it.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/BeatleParadise/DSCI0504.jpg

New Belt is finished!
-
Yay, it's done!!! How excited I am that I finished my coin shell belt for my costume, some of you may remember my coin bra, this belt is to go with that coin bra! Now I just need to make the Harem pants, the choli, and I'm done! Yay for the hard stuff being done! Here's some pictures These were all taken with my phone, so they're crappy. I even bought a new camera just so I could take pictures, and my computer won't talk to it! How crappy is that! Anyway, sorry about the quality, my phone takes crappy pictures. Here's another oneand lastly, this picture doesn't do the front justice, it's made out of silk that is grape and red so that when you turn it it changes from grape or red. It's awesome! Too bad it didn't come out well in the picture. Anyway, sorry for the close up of my blinding white belly....What an aweful lot of work! And I'll post better pictures of the details when the whole costume is finished!
