Basic kinds of marine engines
-
There are three basic kinds of marine engines and three types of fuel delivery systems. Engine types include outboard, inboard, and stern drive. Each has its own advantages, but the most popular-at least for pleasure boats-is the stern drive engine. It involves an on board engine that drives the boat through a shaft powering the propeller beneath the craft. The three types of fuel delivery systems are direct-fuel-injection, electronic fuel injection, and carbureted fuel systems. If being ecologically responsible is a priority, you might choose to avoid the two-stroke carbureted system. Although they are most affordable and simplest to keep in running order, they are known polluters and they are definitely not known for conserving gas. They also have a high oil-to-gas ration, requiring 2.5 ounces of oil per gallon of fuel. Carbureted fuel systems do offer fast acceleration, though, and lots of power. Pleasure boaters particularly like them for bass fishing and water skiing.Direct-fuel-injection is more expensive up front, but it is cheaper to operate. Fuel goes directly to the cylinders for better fuel efficiency. Emissions are low, as well. They idle as smoothly as silk and are not given to vapor lock in warm weather. Similarly, electronic fuel injection offers low emissions and unvarying distribution of air and fuel. It offers great throttle response and regular cold engine starts.

Boating to save gas
-
The boating market today is flooded with four-stroke outboard engines equipped with electronic fuel injection, which get 25 percent better fuel use than the older two-stroke outboards.Make sure the engine has the right prop. If the prop is too big or small, fuel economy will suffer. If the prop is too big, the engine will burn more fuel to get on a plane. If the prop is too small, it will require the engine to turn up more RPMs to find the sweet spot.

4x4 off road book
-
Did you know that many 4 wheelers teach you methods that don't work and could actually damage your truck? It's true! In fact...The problem you face is that you may get knowledge from your fellow 4 wheeling companion. Their knowledge is often limited in depth and many 4 wheelers you see off roading are using methods that worked back in the 1980's and early 1990's. They have not gone to the most extreme trails and often use the truck more for the highway than the off road. You might get stranded and stuck in the middle of nowhere with your infant kids and pregnant wife in a freezing 4x4 with a broken driveline and no way to communicate to rescue units and no way of giving them the location. As you sit helpless in the drivers seat and can do nothing to make the situation tolerable. That means that not only are you going off roading armed with the WRONG information on how to prepare, but you're surrounded by other people doing the same mistakes too. That practically guarantees nobody else may be able to help you out even if there are some 4 wheelers close by. If you're lucky you'll only loose time and patiens... if you're unlucky you or your loved ones could literally end up seriously injured or even dead and your truck could be damaged beyond repair with you having to pay for the retrieval of the truck.Click Here!
