Plymouth Factoid:
In 1620 the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for the New World from Plymouth, thereby establishing the modern English-speaking constitution of the United States of America. On sighting land, they christened their first point of contact on the western Atlantic shore Plymouth Rock in gratitude for the hospitality they had received whilst wintering in Plymouth. Their settlement of Plymouth, Massachusetts also bears the name of its European forebear. Twin flags of the US and UK now fly at the Mayflower Steps to commemorate the significance of this event to both nations.

Basic Moisturizer
-
from Natural Beauty at Home by Janice Cox. Stearic acid is a white, waxy powder obtained from animal fats and oils. It is frequently used in making candles, soaps and cosmetics and gives stiffness to creams and acts as an emulsifier to ensure the oil and water stay combined. Janice Cox suggests beeswax as a substitute if you cannot find it. -- posted by Roosie

White Dragon Milk Bath
-
This is the bath milk formula I created when I was running a toiletry business years ago. This has all the good stuff that is needed for damaged, dry, or sensitive skin. Water is deadly to my skin and strips all the oils off my body, so I have learned that if I want good, healthy skin, I need to replenish with something every time I have a bath. It does make for a messy bath, but it is so worth it -- posted by Abby Girl

Carmelite Water

Carmelite water was invented in 1611 by Carmelite monks in Paris who called it "Eau de Carmes". Carmelite water was used as a perfume and toilet water, and was also taken internally as a cordial. -- posted by Eva DeDominici
