How to Plan a Honeymoon
Before going on your honeymoon, you’ll need to plan it. This can seem like a daunting task, but in reality, if you prepare well in advance, it’s not too difficult. The most important aspect of planning a honeymoon is considering your budget. Your budget will determine where your honeymoon will take place, how long you will be gone, and the types of things you’ll do during your honeymoon.
Have a frank discussion with your partner and determine the type of honeymoon you’d both like to have; will it be near a lake, in the city, or overseas? Once you’ve figured out a honeymoon idea that will suit you both, use your budget to find a hotel in the destination you’d like to visit. You will have to factor in several things along with the cost of the hotel:
- Travel (flights, fuel for driving, etc.)
- Food (even most all-inclusive honeymoon packages require you to pay for food.)
- Activities (do you want to go scuba diving or mountain climbing?)
- Supplies (will you need extra items to take with you on your honeymoon?)
- Emergencies (it’s always good to have a little extra cash for unexpected situations.)
Contact the hotel at least three weeks in advance to book a room. Find out whether they have transportation to and from the airport if you’ll be flying, because if they don’t, you’ll need to find an alternative transportation method. If they have a honeymoon package, you may be able to save some money.
Finally, research the area and plan your activities based on your budget and what you like to do. If you’ll be using companies for your activities (tour guides, horse riding companies, water sports companies, etc.) you’ll want to call in advance to book your activities. By planning ahead, your honeymoon plan can be the best possible for your budget.
