What Tent Size Do You Need for a Party?

So you’re planning to throw a wonderful party and have a beautiful party tent, but you’re not sure what size to order. Well, it’s rather simple to calculate the size of the tent you’ll need, but there are a few other things you’ll want to consider as well.

First, you’ll need to know exactly how many guests will be present at the event, including any venders that will need to be in the area as well. Then, you’ll want to think about the kind of party you’re planning. For instance, if the party guests will all be standing, you’ll want to have at least 6 square feet for each guest. So, if you’re planning to have 50 guests, you’ll want a tent that is at least 300 square feet. If you’ll want to have seating within the tent, you’ll want to calculate at least 10 to 12 square feet per person. This will allow you to fit tables inside the tent. So, if you’re expecting 50 guests, you’ll need a 500 to 600 square foot tent.

There are a few other things to consider. For instance, if you’ll want to include room inside the tent to have a small dance floor, you’ll want to add some space. If you only need a dance area, add about 5 square feet per person to your equation. If you plan on having a band as well, you’ll want to add between 100 square feet and 300 square feet, depending upon the size of the band. If there will be a buffet or drink area, you’ll need to add about 100 square feet per 50 guests. As you’re calculating, remember that you’re always better off having more room than not enough.

If there are other aspects of the party that will be included that are not listed here, you’ll want to continue adding space to ensure that you have enough. Some of these might include activity areas, a space for caterers and equipment, and more. Consider all of these things before renting a tent so you can ensure that you have the correct size.
