New Bedford Factoid:
New Bedford is the home of The New Bedford Whaling Museum, the centerpiece of New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park. It is the country's largest museum on the subject of whaling and the history of interaction between humans and whales. The Museum has large skeletons of a 66-foot-long baby blue whale on display. All whales died in New England waters and were cleaned and assembled for display.  New Bedford Belly Dancers

  • Sergers?
    • Hello. I am interested in purchasing my first serger. I'm okay at sewing. I'm not a novice but certainly no expert. I have been attempting to research sergers online. But I'm totally confused by all the options that are available. So far  I think I want a serger that will do a cover stitch and overlock stitch. Although, I'm not 100% certain of what kind of stitches are available from sergers or what some of the stitches I'm interested in are called. So if anyone knows of a good website where I can learn more about sergers and what they offer please let me know.Thanks!X-posted in costuming and patternsource
  • Kuchi Necklace
    • I've inherited a Kuchi Heart necklace that I have up for sale on my Etsy, but I'm curious, where would something like this be worn? Just around the neck?
  • New Belt is finished!
    • Yay, it's done!!! How excited I am that I finished my coin shell belt for my costume, some of you may remember my coin bra, this belt is to go with that coin bra! Now I just need to make the Harem pants, the choli, and I'm done! Yay for the hard stuff being done! Here's some pictures These were all taken with my phone, so they're crappy. I even bought a new camera just so I could take pictures, and my computer won't talk to it! How crappy is that! Anyway, sorry about the quality, my phone takes crappy pictures. Here's another oneand lastly, this picture doesn't do the front justice, it's made out of silk that is grape and red so that when you turn it it changes from grape or red. It's awesome! Too bad it didn't come out well in the picture. Anyway, sorry for the close up of my blinding white belly....What an aweful lot of work! And I'll post better pictures of the details when the whole costume is finished!
