Bristol Factoid:
Bristol is in a limestone area, which runs from the Mendip Hills to the south and the Cotswolds to the north east. The rivers Avon and Frome cut through this limestone to the underlying clays, creating Bristol's characteristic hilly landscape. The Avon flows from Bath in the east, through flood plains and areas which were marshy before the growth of the city. To the west the Avon has cut through the limestone to form the Avon Gorge, partly aided by glacial meltwater after the last ice age. The gorge aided in the protection of Bristol Harbour, and has been quarried for stone to build the city. The land surrounding the gorge has been protected from development, as The Downs and Leigh Woods. The gorge and estuary of the Avon form the county's boundary with North Somerset, and the river flows into the Bristol Channel at Avonmouth at the mouth of the River Severn. There is another gorge in the city, in the Blaise Castle estate to the north.

Beadspinners, beads and Glass Fringe?
-
Yes it's me again...I'm thinking of making some glass fringe again and I've been looking for tools to make it a bit less time consuming, I'm particularly interested in beadspinners.Okay, questions:- does anyone have a beadspinner (http://www.beadspinner.net) or an equivalent device? Do they make making beaded fringe any easier? Do they make it harder in any way? They seem useful for beading long amounts, but if I were making equal lengths - say 3"/4" - wide are they going to make making my own fringe any easier given i'd have to measure every strand? I have made my own fringe before using only a frame, needle and waxed thread - never again! It took forever!!!-Seed beads or bugle beads, which do you prefer? I like how fluid bugle beads look and the flat, reflective surfaces they have. I've yet to see fringe made from rounded seed beads although I know they do exist. Unfortunately the bead spinner is only compatable with seed beads. Is there any difference? I'd be using glass beads anyway.TIA!

Yay!!! coin bra is almost done!!
-
So the coin bra for my new costume is almost done.... it just needs something in the middle. I'm posting this because some of you might some ideas of things I could do. CAUTION: 3 PICTURES UNDER THE CUTThis one is a close up of the details on the bra. Sorry, these are crappy photos taken by my cell phoneThis one is me in front of the mirror taking apicture of me wearing it with a black choli underneath. I have a dorky look on my face because I was concentrating on getting the picture done. This one is a picture of the whole bra pinned to the couch and stuffed with some fabric to give the cups support.

Tight skirts and non stretch fabric?
-
I want to make a tight egyptian style skirt that clings a little around the hips and bum. I know a lot of these are made up in lycra fabrics but what about non stretch? I have a beautiful silk charmeuse that would look lovely all ruched and clingy...But where do I put the zip? I've been looking up professional costumes online to see if it's possible but the costumes on dahlal rarely specify the fabric, so I'm wondering if it's lycra as standard or whether some higher end costumes are also made from non stretch. How much ease should I draft in if I use it? I don't want it loose and running around and I don't want to restrict my movement too much. Having said that, I like a belt to sit fairly tight on my hips so I would prefer this over a stretch costume that allowed for more movement.Any advice? TIA!xxx
