Worcester is also the seat of three public schools, The Royal Grammar School and Alice Ottley School have recently merged to form the Royal Grammar School Worcester and Alice Ottley School, Worcester aka RGSAO. RGS Worcester is the oldest and largest school in the region boasting the largest array of facilities The King's School, Worcester was re-founded in 1541 under King Henry VIII and lays claim to having roots in the 8th Century ecclesiastical school based around the site of the present cathedral.
