Rhode Island Factoid:
Several attempts had been made to address this problem, but none were successful. In 1842, Thomas Dorr drafted a liberal constitution which was passed by popular referendum. However, the conservative sitting governor, Samuel Ward King, opposed the people's wishes, leading to the Dorr Rebellion. Although this was not a success, a modified version of the constitution was passed in November, which allowed any white male to vote if he owned land or could pay a $1 poll tax.  Rhode Island Bands

  • Comedy-Rock Band Naked Flames Release New Album
    • June 27, 2006--Part comedy troupe, part fire throwing extravaganza, and part metal band Naked Flames continues to celebrate the recent release of their second album, "Animal Love." This original fourteen-track album celebrates the world and all its clichés, twisting classical tunes into parodies, cultural symptoms into lyrics, and traditional performance styles into unique, good-solid fun.

    • Our Spring 2007 season is over and we are taking our summer break. Please do check back here in September as the Good News Big Band starts the Fall / Winter 2007 season. We already have a church service lined up in October at Westwood church and four Christmas concerts in December!
