Ellicott City Factoid:
Ellicott City has been called one of the most haunted small towns on the east coast. The Howard County Tourism Council runs a Ghost Tour that visits several places with reputations for paranormal activity. Among these are the mansions Lilburn, Hayden House, and Mt. Ida; the B&O railroad bridge that crosses over Main Street in the center of the town; the old Ellicott City Firehouse; and the Patapsco Female Institute. Proud Ellicott City residents use this haunted history to bring their small town into the spotlight.  Ellicott City Boats & Yachts

Boats & Yachts News and Information
  • Great White Shark
    • What saved them was that the shark wasn't hungry, they were in the water not on the surface, and there was no fear coming from them - only because they were not aware. Probably better that the kid didn't point for them to look behind them.
  • Cold weather boating tip
    • When you're done fishing and before you leave the launch ramp, trim the outboard motor all the way down, remove the kill switch and turn the engine over for a just a second to pump out any water that may still be inside the motor. Remove any mud or plant debris from the boat or equipment and thoroughly drain livewells or anywhere else water may have pooled to stop the spread of invasive species. Storing the boat high and dry for two days before fishing a different body of water can also help, especially when its cold outside.
  • Winter boating tips
    • After loading the boat, let all the water drain out of the boat and motor. Trim the motor all the way down and start the motor for two to three seconds to remove all the water. If you think you have enough warm clothes, bring some more; you can always shed clothing. It's important to keep every body part covered, including your hands and face.Bring a portable propane heater to dry and warm your hands, and whatever else needs warming.Wear a lifejacket and always keep it on. The water is extremely cold, and you're wearing a lot of clothes that will get heavy if you fall overboard.
