Baltimore Factoid:
Though it was a slave-holding state, by 1860 49.7 percent of blacks in the state were free. Many had ancestors who had been freed in the first decades after the Revolution, when the percentage of free blacks in the Upper South by 1810 went from 1 to more than 10 percent. • Sergers?
    • Hello. I am interested in purchasing my first serger. I'm okay at sewing. I'm not a novice but certainly no expert. I have been attempting to research sergers online. But I'm totally confused by all the options that are available. So far  I think I want a serger that will do a cover stitch and overlock stitch. Although, I'm not 100% certain of what kind of stitches are available from sergers or what some of the stitches I'm interested in are called. So if anyone knows of a good website where I can learn more about sergers and what they offer please let me know.Thanks!X-posted in costuming and patternsource
