Boats & Yachts News and Information
  • Save gas when fishing
    • Patterning fish close to the launching the ramp is one of the best ways to burn less gas. You might be surprised how good the fishing is near a ramp or marina. Many anglers bypass this water because they are too pumped up to get to their honey hole 10 miles up the lake. Launching your boat closer to your fishing spot not only saves gas, but it gives you more fishing time and saves wear and tear on your boat.Fishing near the ramp can provide a bonus for bass anglers because tournaments use boat ramps and marinas as weigh-in areas. Many tournament anglers also release their bass right there. This stacks fish up on nearby structure, such as points, weedlines, channel drops, fallen trees and stump beds. Fishing tips forum
  • Pike Speed Trolling
    • The tackle required is a stiff rod, like a Shimano Clarus Series rod that you might use for muskie. The line should be a low stretch monofilament in about 12 to 17 lb. test, Berkley XT is good choice. I will also spool this up on a Shimano Calcutta bait casting reel. The reason that I use a baitcaster is it allows me more line capacity and I can use a long handled rod to tuck under my arm while speed trolling.
  • Fishing Boats
    • Bass Fishing BoatsAfter your budget there are really only 4 major concerns for buying a bass boat and they are size, material, motor and service. Your bass boat should be able to carry all your gear comfortably and able to seat all the people you would normally travel with all the time without crowding or making it unsafe. Aluminum boats are great for rivers and rocks whereas fiberglass is suited for still waters. As far as motors go, biggest is best for handling. Service is extremely important and should be done regularly with genuine parts by authorized dealers.Fishing BoatsSo far we have pretty well centered on bass boats, which is all well and good because bass boats allow you to fish from several different angles but not all anglers are interested in just bass fishing. In order to choose your boat you’re going to need to look at sport fishing boats (for large fish) and all purpose fishing boats (which are great for rough water) that are suitable to the different types of fishing you expect to be doing. Another style of fishing boat is the air boat which allows you to get into locations not accessible for other fishing boats. The point here is to realize that there are a multitude of different types of fishing boat designs and by choosing the wrong boat will probably be detrimental to your fishing experience.
